There are three forms for badminton court lighting, natural lighting, artificial lighting and mixed lighting. Mixed lighting exists in most modern badminton court, among which artificial lighting is common lighting. To make the athletes accurately judge the ball height and drop point while designing a badminton court. First of all, make the best use of natural light and avoid glare to be reflected to eyes; then increase stability of luminance, uniformity and coordination of distribution. It is important not only for athletes to make good performance, but also for referee to judge accurately and enjoyment.

Lighting standards for Indoor Badminton Court

Notice: 
1. There is 2 values on the table, in front of "/" is the value for PA-based area, the value after of "/" indicates the total value of TA.
2. Background (wall / or ceiling) surface color, reflectance color and the ball should have sufficient contrast.
3. The court should have sufficient illumination, but should avoid the glare to athletes.

Recommended LED lights for badminton court:
1. Use lights (LED indoor sports stadium lights) on the ceiling as common lighting, then increase auxiliary lighting on booth sides a higher location of the badminton court.
2. There should be a light blocking shield for LED lights, in case of glare.
3. To avoid high brightness above athletes, lamps should not appear upside the main conference. The minimum free height of international competition is 12m, so the mounting height of lights should be 12m at least. For informal competitive stadiums, the ceiling can be lower. 
When it is less than 6m, low power LED indoor sports stadium lights are recommended.
