Hami Sports Center Football Stadium Lighting Project——Reliable LED Sports Lighting for Extreme Wind Conditions

Project Summary
Located in Hami's famous high-wind corridor in Xinjiang, Hami Sports Center faces over 200 days of strong winds (Force 8 or above) every year. Such an extreme environment places extraordinary demands on stadium lighting systems.
To support the 2026 Tongxin Cup Xinjiang Football Super League, SCL engineered a customized LED football stadium lighting solution featuring enhanced wind resistance, precision optical control, low glare, and high lighting uniformity—ensuring professional lighting performance for both athletes and live broadcasting.
Project Name:Hami Sports Center Stadium Lighting Upgrade
Location:Hami, Xinjiang, China
Application:Football Stadium
Lighting Brand:SCL
Lighting Type:LED Football Stadium Lighting
Project Type:Sports Lighting Upgrade
Challenge:Extreme Wind & Sand Environment
The Challenge: Stadium Lighting in an Extreme Wind Zone
For most stadiums, lighting design focuses on brightness and uniformity.
However, for Hami Sports Center, the first challenge was neither lighting performance nor energy efficiency—it was the wind.
Located in one of China's strongest wind corridors, the site experiences more than 200 days of Force 8 winds every year, with maximum instantaneous wind speeds reaching 50.8 m/s. Strong winds, airborne sand, and extreme temperature variations significantly increase structural loads and accelerate wear on lighting systems.
Standard football stadium lighting solutions simply could not meet these environmental demands. Therefore, SCL conducted comprehensive on-site wind assessments, structural calculations, and lighting simulations before finalizing the design.
Rather than following the original design, SCL optimized the entire lighting layout after detailed site evaluation.
The engineering team reduced the number of luminaires mounted on lighting poles while increasing installations beneath the stadium canopy. This solution successfully lowered structural loads without replacing existing electrical infrastructure.
After multiple rounds of optical simulations and on-site adjustments, the stadium achieved professional competition lighting performance while maintaining structural safety.

As the home venue of the 2026 Tongxin Cup Xinjiang Football Super League, the football field required professional competition lighting capable of supporting high-speed gameplay and television broadcasting.
SCL optimized every luminaire's aiming angle through repeated on-site adjustments, ensuring:
✔ Minimum illuminance above 800 lux
✔ Excellent lighting uniformity
✔ Low-glare optical performance
✔ Reduced light spill
✔ TV broadcast-ready lighting quality
The integrated anti-glare optical system improves player visibility while reducing visual fatigue. Precision optics also minimize unnecessary light pollution beyond the playing area.
The true performance of stadium lighting is proven during live competition.
During the Tongxin Cup matches, commentators repeatedly praised the lighting quality, highlighting its clear visuals, comfortable brightness, and excellent visibility of both player movement and ball trajectory.
Real-world feedback confirmed the effectiveness of SCL's professional football stadium lighting solution under challenging environmental conditions.
Every sports venue presents unique engineering challenges.
For SCL, professional stadium lighting is never about applying standard products—it is about delivering customized solutions based on real environmental conditions.
The Hami Sports Center project demonstrates SCL's expertise in designing high-performance LED sports lighting systems capable of operating reliably in some of the world's most demanding outdoor environments.
